(Directional) Couplers

The directional coupler architecture is almost the same as that of a power divider/splitter. The major difference between the two component types is the directional coupler's optimization with respect to couple accuracy and directivity. Its objective is to provide a coupled port for a probe to monitor the forward/backward signal. The coupling factor between input and coupling port can be selected from 3dB up to 70 dB.
There are almost no restrictions when it comes to selecting the most appropriate connection configuration. E.g. any flange configuration can be selected for the main transmission ports, while the coupling port could be any coax type connection. Couplers are available as 3 or 4 port devices, while port "4" on the 3 port variant is internally terminated with a load.
